Bauhaus- Ziggy Stardust / Third Uncle 7” (1982)

Another dip into the cardboard box of singles. I'm loving handling these vinyls.
Bauhaus show us their roots with two ballsy covers.
Ziggy Stardust originally by David Bowie (1972)
Third Uncle originally by Brian Eno (1974)

  3. Thanks to Walker's hospitality, maybe it's time I focussed on early Bauhaus for a while.

The rarest stuff is "Live in the Studio 1979", released in 1999 with the Andrew Brooksbank book, Beneath the Mask.

    1."In the Night" – 3:14
    2."God in an Alcove" – 3:32
    3."Dark Entries" – 3:36
    4."Telegram Sam" – 2:29
    5."Nerves" – 5:27
    6."Honeymoon Croon" – 3:10
    7."Kamikazi Dive" – 2:49
    8."Shows (Fragment)" – 1:18

There is some mystery as to exactly where these were recorded - they appear not to be the 1979 Beck Studios session which produced Bauhaus' first 45, Bela Lugosi, nor do they appear to be the 1980 Southern Studios (Crass' studio) sessions which produced the Flat Field first LP. Whatever, these are unmissable for Bauhaus diehards - just what the doctor ordered, pre-first LP studio quality demos.

The original 320 kbps 55MB download I got has disappeared, but you can still find the recording here:

    1 Rapidshare, 36878 KB

or, from http://la-ultima-sinfonia-del-corazon.blogspot.com/search/label/Bauhaus (which has most albums and a couple of live bootlegs including Le Rose Bonbon Paris Live 1981)
    1 mediafire, 34430 KB

Both the cover and the tapebox insert can be found here:
http://symphonyofghosts.blogspot.com/2009/12/bauhaus-live-in-studio-1979.html (but their mediafire link is lower quality).

Next up, Bauhaus' first four singles:

    "Bela Lugosi's Dead" 1979 from http://la-ultima-sinfonia-del-corazon.blogspot.com/search/label/Bauhaus
    1 mediafire,

"Dark Entries", "Terror Couple Kill Colonel", "Telegram Sam" and most other Bauhaus singles, Rapidshares, at:
    http://goodmusicbox.blogspot.com/search/?q=Bauhaus&submit.x=8&submit.y=6

As for the Le Rose Bonbon Paris Live 1981 gig (from which the "Satori in Paris" single Walker posted was taken), an alternative link to the one above, this one Rapidshare, is at:

    http://floppybootstomp.blogspot.com/2008/10/bauhaus-le-rose-bonbon-paris-1981.html

a site well worth visiting regularly.

There, that should keep you all busy for a while! Cheers, Dave Sez.
