Whilst we are on the subject of Iceland...Hafdis Huld has a painstakingly fragile, quirky voice - like Bjork crossed with Cerys Matthews on a diet of candyfloss. Her solo album delivers some minimal but deliciously skewed pop as Huld belies her gooey vocals and strummed acoustics with dark concerns and some satisfyingly nasty lyrics- The Guardian.
Dirty Paper Cup, Hafdís Huld's debut album, was released in 2006. It features a cover of a Lou Reed song played on the ukelele.

I don't want to appear to be doing a hard sell here but You might like to know that Hafdis has just made a Special Limited edition of her next album, called 'Synchronised Swimmers' which she's selling directly to fans through her website and at gigs.
