The glorification of skinheads. Now the celebration of violence. Can't say I agree with you on either of those points. Anyone else you feel deserves a good kicking?
Anonymous- I'm not advocating a good kicking for anyone- just lining a few up against the wall and shooting them.
Poked with a stick, my arse! What a lot of bollocks. Off with their fucking heads I say!
Already this has been turned to the advantage of the royals. Previously vilified Camilla is now treasured - "how dare they do this to our future queen". They'll always turn this to their own advantage.Still, it will do them good to be reminded, even for a moment, that they rule by the dispensation of the people.Reminds me of the day the crowd at Stradey PArk sang Wheres Diana Gone? (to the tune of Chirpy-Chirpy-Cheep-Cheep) as Charlie was introduced as guest of honour.Mickey
As an American I can only say that there are far greater problems in the world than the English monarchy. The royals may be detached and clueless, but they've always been that way. On the other hand, the world's financiers and politicians (including our now not-so-beloved Obama) have become the bought-and-paid servants of the 1.5% of the population who own virtually everything. A class war waged by the wealthy against everyone else... now there's a problem.
A class war waged by the wealthy against everyone else... now there's a problem. Spot on Anonymous. I agree completely with your point, but at a cost of £40 million pounds a year, excluding security costs, it's time to get rid of the Royals for sure.
You have to remember they bring your country more than that back in tourist dollars every year. For many (most?) first time tourists to England a visit to Buckingham Palace is first on their agenda. Not that I'm saying they are wonderful people or anything...
And plenty of tourists to Russia go to Pushkin to see the palaces, or to the Winter Palace in St Petersburg)))
I'd be quite happy for them to carry on calling themselves King this or Queen whatever. But they can pay for their own lifestyle and be totally removed from any constitutional or non constitutional vestiges of power. And if anyone wants to go and look at them they're welcome to but don't expect me to bow the knee. Head of the Commonwealth, theres a clue in the title - The Common Wealth, it is in the power of the people and not the royal family. If theres a master/servant situation in existence then they are (should be) the servants of the people.Mickey
